Our Lady of Guadalupe Visits San Pedro Cathedral

From July 27 to 29, 2026, San Pedro Cathedral welcomed the international Pilgrim Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, one of the image’s last stops in Mindanao on its journey through churches across the Philippines. The pilgrimage forms part of the preparations for the 500th anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe in 2031.

The visit opened on the morning of July 27 with a solemn procession at 7:30 a.m. The Pilgrim Image, together with a replica of St. Juan Diego’s tilma, was carried along C.M. Recto, Bonifacio, Bolton, and San Pedro Streets before being enthroned in the cathedral.

Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao, presided at the Welcome Mass. Over the three days, priests from the eight vicariates of the Archdiocese celebrated Masses, while the faithful filled the cathedral for prayer and veneration.

The visit closed with a Farewell Mass presided by Rev. Msgr. Paul Cuison, Rector of San Pedro Cathedral, before the image continued to the Diocese of Tagum.
